Sadia investing in Mato Grosso

Sadia are to build a new complex in Campo Verde, Mato Grosso at a cost of R$630M. Their aim is to create a total production line for chicken processing that goes from incubation to slaughter, ‘processing’ up to 500 000 chickens per day! 60% of production from the new site willl be destined for the export market.

2007 Multinational ranking

images3.jpeg Fundacao Dom Cabral and the Columbia Programme for International Investment compiled this top twenty ranking for Brazilian multinationals. The outward FDI (OFDI) flow exceeded inward  for the first time in 2006 making Brazil the third largest developing country in terms of OFDI after China (HK) and Singapore. The top twenty MNCS employ 77 000 people abroad selling goods and services worth approx $30bn.

Certification and standards

coffee beans An in depth look at ethical certification for a large scale coffee producer in Sao Paulo State. The environmental and social requirements of the  certification included aspects such as upgrading of workers accommodation, reduction of fertiliser use and installation of a new sewage treatment facility. The premium resulting from certification pays back the investment and satisfies buyer and consumer demands.
