Decoupling to Recoupling
Jim O Neil, chief economist at Goldman Sachs, explains where the markets are regarding links to the US economy. China, whose retail spending is now higher than that of the US, has decoupled taking with it economies connected to and supporting to its continued growth.

10.7m PCs in 2007
Brazil was the 5th largest purchaser of personal computers last year behind the USA, China, Japan and Great Britain with the country aiming to improve on its position by 2010. Brazilian firm Positiva Informatica sold 1 389 000 machines – the first time a national firm has broken the 1m mark. 2007 Multinational ranking
Fundacao Dom Cabral and the Columbia Programme for International Investment compiled this top twenty ranking for Brazilian multinationals. The outward FDI (OFDI) flow exceeded inward for the first time in 2006 making Brazil the third largest developing country in terms of OFDI after China (HK) and Singapore. The top twenty MNCS employ 77 000 people abroad selling goods and services worth approx $30bn.
